Lean (to me) and mean (to visitors)

For those who hadn't noticed yet, I have, ehh, downgraded my weblog. While it has been running smoothly on Wordpress for over a year I had too much trouble customizing it to fit my needs. Plus it had about 90 features I will never use.

A friend of mine pointed me to Code Igniter, a lightweight PHP MVC-like framework and with it I rebuilt this weblog (albeit in downgraded fashion) in just two days. An impressive feat, given that I am no PHP wizard.

So that gives me a new blog. Lean and mean, but I am sorry for some unfortunate side-effects this has caused:

  1. XML-feeds are gone (atom feed now up and running),
  2. bookmarks are broken,
  3. comments are off,
  4. search-engine results are broken,
  5. internal links are broken,
  6. the character encoding is wrong (still struggling with that in Code Igniter) and
  7. it looks like crap.

I expect most of these issues to be resolved in the near future.
