Backbase releases free version

It's official! By the end of this week, a free, non-commercial version of the Backbase presentation software will be made available through the Backbase website. I'm not entirely sure what the package will be but apart from the engine it should contain a substantial amount of documentation (manual, reference), code examples and starter kits (example apps).

Although I am 100% behind this product I'm not too sure what people will think. In general it shows a very pragmatic approach to the development of RIA's and while obviously based on many different W3C standards like XHTML, XPath and DOM it's bound to piss off some standards-purists. Hopefully most people will enjoy working with it as much as I do. After it becomes available I shall occasionally write some posts about stuff like creating your own widgets, skinning and general best-practices.
